"Shift + 'direction key'" will highlight the text where the cursor is at. The direction keys are the arrows of up, down, left, right. They maneuver around the cursor. This can be very helpful at times. Say you want to delete a text, you can highlight it and then press the delete/backspace key. Another thing you can do with the keyboard without using the mouse.
